Jarv has a website (http://www.jarvmobile.com/) where they offer multiple Bluetooth products for sale, but otherwise information about the company is difficult to find.  Jarv offers the NMotion Sport Wireless Bluetooth earbuds for $30 shipped on Amazon.com.  Let’s see what that $30 gets us.

The NMotion earbuds are worn inside the inner ear canal and are connected by a 20” flat, anti-tangle wire which dangles in front or beyond your neck.  The NMotion come with three sets of earbud tips (small, medium, and large).  When inserted properly, they seal out external noise; this is great for annoying sounds but keep in mind that you will not be able to hear important safety cues (cars), and you will have to remove at least one earbud to have a conversation with others around you.

The NMotion also come with a pair of “sport ear hooks” and a pair of earlobe stabilizers.  In practice, neither work very well.  Multiple users complain about the fit and that the NMotion do not stay in their ears well.  Although Jarv calls the NMotion “Sport” earbuds, no claim is made about sweat resistance, and Amazon even includes “Not Ideal for Runners” in the product description.

The long wire connecting the earbuds can “stick” to your back causing the earbuds to be dislodged when you turn your head, and other users note the shape of the earbud tips do not allow them to be fully inserted into their ears resulting in a poor seal and letting in external noises.  Finally, several users complain that the control module is much bigger than what they were led to believe by Jarv’s stock photos.  They note the control is heavy, bulky, and pulls on the earbuds.

The NMotion come in 5 color options: solid black, red, pink, green, or violet.

Controls

The NMotion has three buttons located on a module near the right earbud:

Volume Up: Hold down to increase the volume, press once to skip to the next track

Volume Down: Hold down to decrease the volume, press once to skip to the previous track

Multi-function button

  • When receiving a call, press once to answer or hold down for 2 seconds to reject the call.  End the call by pressing the multifunction button again.
  • When playing music, press once to pause and press again to resume playing the music.
  • Holding the multi-function button for five seconds puts the Nmotion into pairing mode.

Features

Jarv NMotion support Bluetooth 4.0 technology and supports A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth profiles.  The NMotion supports aptX for higher quality music playback, and the microphone has echo cancellation.

Performance

Jarv claims the battery will support 5 hours of continuous use, and users report this is accurate.  The NMotion can standby for 100 hours and it takes 1.5 to 2 hours to fully recharge the battery.

Users are pleased with the music playback quality, reporting the sound is rich, full, and crisp, and the bass is deep.  While most bought the NMotion to listen to music, users report that calls are also clear on both ends with no issues.

The wireless range and connectivity are generally good.  The NMotion connects instantly with paired devices, and the range is about 30 feet.

Customer Comments

Amazon users are divided on the Jarv NMotion, giving it an average of 3.5 out of 5 stars with over 2900 reviews.  Users love the music playback quality especially at this low price point, but many users complain that the earbuds fall out of their ears.  Multiple users complain the control module is much bigger than pictured; it’s bulky, heavy, and pulls on the earbuds.  Finally, several users received units that did not function properly.

Pros

  • Excellent sound quality, especially for the price
  • Good call quality
  • Lots of color options to choose from

Cons

  • Control unit is bulky and heavy
  • Poor fit and comfort
  • Not recommended for running or exercise

Summary

The Jarv NMotion Bluetooth earbuds offer great music playback and phone call quality at an amazingly low price of $30 shipped, but be prepared to make some sacrifices.  Comfort and fit are hit or miss, and the Amazon description specifically states these are not ideal for running (I imagine they got tired of fielding complaints from runners).  If you are willing to spend another $7, you may want to consider the Mpow Swift or SoundPeats QY7 instead.  Otherwise, the Nmotion are the best sounding Bluetooth earbuds for less than $30.
