Mpow has a webpage, www.xmpow.com where they sell multiple Bluetooth products.  The site was created in 2010, otherwise not much is known about Mpow.  The Mpow Swift look almost exactly like the SoundPeats QY7, and I highly suspect both Mpow and SoundPeats are selling slightly different versions of the same Bluetooth earbuds made from a single Chinese supplier.

The Mpow Swift Bluetooth Earbuds were designed specifically for use during exercise.  They are water/sweat resistant and come with small, medium, and large earbud tips, and 6 different pairs of earlobe stabilizers.  There are a lot of different possible combinations, and users that take the time to find one that fits well report the Mpow Swift stay in place well while running and other intense exercise.

Most users find a combination that is comfortable and many report “forgetting” the Mpow Swift are even in their ears, but multiple users found the earlobe stabilizer to be irritating after a few hours.  The cable that connects the two earbuds is 22 inches long.  Few users complain about it, but that is a significant amount of cable to manage.

Like all earbuds that seal tightly in the inner ear canal, the Mpow Swift blocks out external environmental noise.  This is great for blocking out annoying background noise, but also prevents you from hearing important sounds or having conversations with those around you.  If you plan on running outside, consider the safety of running your route without being able to hear your surroundings.

The Mpow Swift come in White/Orange, White/Green, and White/Yellow options.

Controls

The buttons are simple and minimalistic.  On the right side (while wearing the earbuds), there is a rocker switch that increases/decreases the volume when pressed briefly and changes tracks forward/backward when pressed for about a second.  On the left side, there is a function button that controls power on and off, answering and rejecting calls, and pausing and playing music.  That is a lot of things for one button to do.  It accomplishes these things by short and long presses as follows:

The Function Button

If the Mpow Swift is off, hold the function button down for a few seconds to turn it on.  Continue to hold it down to activate pairing mode.

If receiving a call, press the button to answer, hold down the button to end the call.

When playing music, press once to play or pause the sound track.

Overall, the controls are effective, but users note that the buttons are very small and are not particularly easy to locate and use.  In addition, using the buttons can dislodge the earbuds somewhat.

Features

The Mpow Swift uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology with the aptX codec compression algorithm.

Mpow advertises the Swift has “Signal Enhance Technology” which prevents skipping when the earbuds are blocked from the audio source by barriers such as your body.  In practice, it seems to work as there are few complaints of skipping or losing signal.  Mpow also advertises the Swift has CVC6.0 Digital noise reduction technology which filters outside noise increasing the clarity of calls and music.  In practice, it works.  Users are very impressed with call quality on both ends, and are amazed at the music playback quality for this price range.  The microphone does not have any noise cancellation features.

Performance

Users report the Mpow Swift is good for about 6 hours of continuous use and will fully recharge in about 2 hours.  The wireless range is standard at around 30 feet but is reduced as barriers are introduced between the earbuds and your smart phone.

While definitely not audiophile grade, users are happy and impressed by the music playback quality.  The Mpow Swift will play “plenty loud” with most users unable to turn up the volume more than 75% without experience discomfort.

Call quality is excellent on both ends, but the microphone does not have noise cancelation so external environmental noise will be transmitted to your caller.

Customer Comments

Overall Amazon users are pleased with the Mpow Swift giving it 4.2 out of 5 stars with nearly 400 reviews.  Users love the music playback quality, call clarity, and overall build quality.  Most Runners and exercisers report the Swift stays in their ears well, and it is comfortable even for extended runs, however a few find the earlobe stabilizers rub against and irritate their ears.

Users report that the instruction manual is terrible.  You will have to Google or watch a Youtube video to figure out the controls and how to wear the Mpow Swift properly.  Finally, several users reported receiving a defective product that stopped working after only a few weeks.  Luckily, Amazon has a great return policy and Mpow does offer an 18 month warrantee.

Pros

  • Great music playback quality for the price
  • Lots of fit options; you’ll likely find one that is comfortable
  • Generally stay in place while running
  • Great build quality

Cons

  • Small buttons can be difficult to use
  • The cable connecting the earbuds is 22” long.
  • Poorly written instruction manual
  • Some quality control issues

Summary

The Mpow Swift are recommended for runners and other exercisers on a budget.  The Swift do everything reasonably well and are an amazing value for less than $40.  On average, reviewers are very pleased with the Mpow Swift, and you probably will be too.   The SoundPeats QY7 are very similar but sacrifice in ear stability for more comfort.
